Scrooge
Ebenezer Scrooge is the selfish and miserly protagonist of
Charles Dickens' 1843 ghost story, "A Christmas Carol".
The book's popularity has been so great that the word "Scrooge"
has come to be used as a term for a person who is
stingy, antisocial and lacking in Christmas spirit. There have also been
many updated versions of the story produced including books, cartoons and movies.

In his "Ghostly little book," Charles Dickens invents the modern concept of Christmas Spirit and offers one of the world's most adapted and imitated stories. We know Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, not only as fictional characters, but also as icons of the true meaning of Christmas in a world still plagued with avarice and cynicism. |

Click Here | Amazon.com Audiobook Review: Patrick Stewart's one-man production of Dickens's A Christmas Carol played to sold-out audiences in New York and Los Angeles. In this studio recording based on those performances, Stewart is in rare form, using his considerable range of voices to play all roles, from the Ghost of Christmas past to Tiny Tim. It must be said that Stewart clearly enjoys playing Scrooge best of all--but isn't the villain always the most compelling character? Even if you feel that "every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart," this rendition of Dickens's classic will get you in a Yuletide mood. Click Here | Amazon.com: The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck confirmed Don Rosa's status as the heir apparent to the great Carl Barks as Disney's premiere comic storyteller. For this massive 12-part epic, originally printed in Uncle Scrooge 285-296 (April 1994 through February 1996), Rosa combed through Barks' stories for the many clues about what transformed Scrooge McDuck from a Scottish boy to the richest duck alive. Thus, Scrooge's comment that he fought in the "cattle wars of the old frontier" was turned into a story about the young Scrooge's cattle job in Montana. Rosa incorporates actual historical facts with known elements of the Scrooge mythology to spin an incredibly rich chronicle, full of tall tales, crazy gags, and high adventure. The 1995 Eisner winner for Best Serialized Story is even better in trade paperback format, in which Rosa offers his own memories of writing the story, "insane details to look for," and rare art. Want more of Rosa's Scrooge? The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck Companion collects other stories about the life of Scrooge that weren't in the original series. --David Horiuchi |

Click Here | Amazon.com: Want more of Don Rosa's monumental The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck? The Life of Scrooge McDuck Companion is it, six new chapters that weave through the original 12 that have the pre-miser Scrooge encountering Magica De Spell, the Beagle Boys, Annie Oakley and other Western icons, and Teddy Roosevelt at the Panama Canal. Even better, "The Prisoner of White Agony Creek" and "Hearts of the Yukon" reveal Scrooge's (gasp) romantic side in his brief but intense relationship with Glittering Goldie. Filling out the volume are an excerpt from another Rosa tale of the early Scrooge, "Last Sled to Dawson," and "The Dream of a Lifetime," which puts an amusing time-travel spin on a number of the Life and Times chapters. If you haven't already read the complete "Last Sled to Dawson," however, you'll have to pick it up elsewhere, like in the Uncle Scrooge & Donald Duck: Don Rosa Special or Uncle Scrooge #350. --David Horiuchi |

Discover the 5 Essentials to Financial Freedom and Prosperity! Do you wish you had more money saved for retirement? Do you and your partner fight about money? Do you want to make an investment but are unsure in what? Do you make yourself promises about finances that you just can't seem to keep? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have a problem-but it's not the problem you think it is. Your money problems are a consequence of the relationship you have with your money. A problem in that relationship is what's really holding you back. In this compelling book, The Financial Wisdom of Ebenezer Scrooge, you will learn the breakthrough approach that is transforming lives-a method which The Wall Street Journal hails as "an innovative effort that combines experiential therapy with nuts-and-bolts financial planning." Finally, a practical plan to be your money's master instead of its servant. Ebenezer Scrooge would seem an unlikely source from which to glean financial wisdom: He was a wealthy man who kept his living quarters cold to save shillings and lived a reclusive existence because he worried someone would take his money. However, Dickens' classic tale of how Scrooge found his true course in life is a powerful model we all can benefit from today. Unlike other financial planning books that focus narrowly on the "dollar and cents" of money, The Financial Wisdom of Ebenezer Scrooge is an easy read. Written for the layperson, this book provides advice that is simple, transformational, and timeless. Through the process they've used successfully with their clients, the authors will show you how to recognize ways unconscious Money Scripts may keep you trapped; how to deal with the relationship between your net worth and your self-worth; how to discover your authentic goals and values; how to permanently change self-destructive money behaviors; and, through 5 essentials of financial prosperity, how to leave a family legacy of financial wellness. "These are five essentials indeed, they have literally changed my life Clients, friends, and family will all be receiving this book as a gift from me. They will no doubt thank me later." -Kerry Hansen, Career Management Specialist for Wynonna Judd "The authors have hit a grand slam with this outstanding book. Brilliant, clear, moving... a must-read." -Jerry Moe M.A., National Director of Children's Programs, Betty Ford Center "This will be on my clients' 'must-read' list." -Elizabeth Jetton CFP®, Chairperson of The Financial Planning Association, 2005 |

Click Here | Book Description: Without question, The Annotated Christmas Carol is the most authoritative and entertaining edition ever produced. What would Christmas be without A Christmas Carol? Charles Dickens's famous ghost story is as much a part of the season as plum pudding and mistletoe, and Michael Patrick Hearn, the celebrated annotator of The Wizard of Oz and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, has now prepared a sumptuous new edition of the Dickens classic. This latest contribution to the Norton annotated series delves into the engrossing history of the book's publication, when it first captivated Victorian England. This is the first edition to combine the original text of 1843 with Dickens's Public Reading text, which had its world premiere in America in 1867 and has not been reprinted in nearly a century. Also included are rare photographs as well as the original Leech wood engravings and hand-colored etchings. These are supplemented by other contemporary illustrations by George Cruikshank, Gustave Doré, John Tenniel, and "Phiz." The Annotated Christmas Carol will be a literary feast for the whole family for generations. 2-color, 100 black-and-white illustrations, and 8 pages of color. |
