Silent Night
"Silent Night" is a traditional Christmas Carol. The original German lyrics of the song Stille Nacht were written by Austrian priest Josef Mohr. The original melody was composed by the Austrian headmaster Franz Xaver Gruber, although the version of the melody that is usually sung today, does differ slightly from the original.
"Silent Night" has been translated into over 300 languages, and is one of the most popular carols of all time. Particularly noteable is that it was sung by both British and German troops during the Christmas Truce of 1914 as it was one of the few carols that soldiers on both sides knew.
